Why I buy through Bookshop.org

My husband and I decided to buy a book for each other for our November birthdays. The best part: ordering them from Bookshop.org and getting the above thank you email.
You see, your local bookstore earns money when you order your books from Bookshop. It’s an online bookseller that shares profits with indie bookshops across the country.
Purchases made via Bookshop.org ship directly to your home from Bookshop stock.
From my recent purchase totaling around sixty dollars, my local indie bookseller, Novel: A Book and Sandwich Shop, netted nineteen bucks. The best part is Amazon got zilch.
Indie bookstores help everyone
Plus, during this Republican shutdown and the rising cost groceries, independent bookstores nationwide are donating to food banks and organizations that help provide for those suffering from food insecurity.
What is Amazon doing? Funding a ballroom for the White House.
Novel has partnered with Neighborhood House, where I volunteer, to assist with the current food needs of my community.
If you’d like to help Neighborhood House, you can drop off food at their Food Pantry. Or support Novel or any other local indie bookseller by buying books from Bookshop.org.

Thank you for visiting! Author Linda K. Sienkiewicz is a wrangler of words and big messy feelings in fiction and poetry. Her second novel, Love and Other Incurable Ailments, is coming October 27, 2026, from Regal House Publishing: When love letters from a despondent stranger land in her lap, an anxious overthinker becomes convinced she’s the cure, and sets off to save him, and herself, blissfully armed with nothing but magical thinking.

Very cool for folks who don’t have easy access to a bricks-and-mortar indy bookshop. Thankfully, we do: The Painted Porch in Bastrop is an easy 20 minutes from me. Heading over this week as a matter of fact.
Have fun book shopping! We have a great local bookshop but they don’t stock a lot, so Bookshop.org comes in handy. I can buy online and still support them.
