Need a reason to smile after dealing with rejection letters, frustrating revisions or lousy book reviews? We’ve all been there!
I don’t know if I’d actually send such a letter, but I laughed reading it!
Sometimes it’s hard to know how to answer this question from well meaning friends when you’ve been in a slump, especially if it’s been months.
Most of my writer friends agree that chocolate works for all occasions of misery.
A writer friend got a nasty review before her book had even been published, so I told her she’s earned her Author Purple Heart 💜 I recently learned that a bogus bad review, aka a review bomb or a fake, is said to have come from “Jenny.” According to many authors, Jenny reviews are a problem on Amazon and Goodreads that needs to be better addressed.
It was right there, honest. I thought for sure I’d remember. And then it vanished. This is also related to those times in the wee hours of the morning when you get a great idea only to fall back asleep and forget everything except the fact that you might’ve had an idea.
I don’t know about you, but my eyes glaze over when people run their ideas past me, excitedly saying “You ought to write about _______” Never ever has someone else’s great idea inspired me. It’s their idea. They need to write it.
Hey, writers need snacks! For me, it’s usually chocolate or these huge frosted sugar cookies from the Give Thanks Bakery in town.
