5 Reasons to Attend the DWW Writers Conference

July 31, 2017 By Linda K Sienkiewicz

Detroit Working Writers Conference

Does your writing need a boost?

The best way to invest in your writing career is to take it seriously. Invest in yourself as a writer by attending a writers’ conference. Nourish your identity, no matter what level of writer you are. Spend time surrounded by other writers. Learn from them. A writers’ conference is where you should be!

Unsure?

Here are 5 reasons to attend the upcoming DWW Conference on September 16, 2017:

  1. Be inspired by the keynote speaker!  Weam Namou is an award-winning, Iraqi-American author, filmmaker, journalist lecturer and spiritual guide. She has been a journalist for the Chaldean News for ten years and is a reporter and ambassador of Arab America. Her poetry, essays and articles have appeared in national and international journals. She has been interviewed on radio and film, and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award in 2012 from E’Rootha.
  2. Find new vision for your writing life! “Revisioning the Writing Life” panel features Royal Oak Public Library Adult Services Librarian Rosemary Mirsky, Oxford Community Television Production Manager Teri Stiles, Managing Editor/founder of Rochester Writers/Freelance Writer Michael Dwyer, and Book Coach and Speaker Virginia Bailey Parker
  3. Sharpen your writing skills! Sessions include workshops on humor writing, poetry, memoir, and fiction. There’ll also be time to take advantage of book sales and networking.
  4. Get the skinny on point of view in fiction at my workshop! In Effective Point of View in Fiction, we’ll examine how different narrators affect your readers. How intimate do you want your narrator to be with your readers? How do you know which point of view best serves your story or novel? Find out!
  5. Hot lunch included! Need I say more?
