Rochester Posed:

I made the mistake of talking Clementine with me downtown to see Rochester Posed, where movie and TV characters are brought to life with live mannequins in store fronts. There were so many people, despite a light rain, that I feared she might get trampled by the oohing and ahhing crowd. I had to take her home and return, but least all the walking made my Fitbit happy.

This is the fifth year for downtown Rochester’s Posed event, and it’s clear that many stores go all out in creativity and effort. I tried to take pictures of every storefront, but sometimes the window glare spoiled the shot, and sometimes the crowds were too much! So, here are the best of my photos, not necessarily the best displays.

My favorite was Lost in Space. The actors captured the corny aspect of the suspenseful family outer space drama, and Robby the Robot is fabulous! Family members of one of the actors were out front the display, trying to make him laugh, asking him if his arm was getting tired, or his nose itched.

Avatar was absolutely stunning, from makeup to acting. The actors completely changed their poses at different intervals during the 2 hour display.

Frankenstein was also terrific. The bride’s dress, makeup and facial expression were perfect. The actress showed her makeup test and costume assemblage on Instagram (@suchstuffasdreamsaremadeon).

Oh, and Edward Scissorhands… Yes.
