I help guide individuals and businesses through the creation of a web presence – from website strategy to design and coding to training users how to use WordPress. I also mother two young boys and blog (rather sporadically) about living simply, motherhood, work, and the intersection of all of these.
WHY?
I’m equally right and left brained, so working on website feeds both of these. I get to immerse myself in the worlds of creativity and logic at the same time. I also love getting to know my clients and becoming familiar with their industries. I am exposed to experiences I’d never have otherwise – I know more about a small fishing village in Mexico and what it’s like to work with the White House than I ever expected. Plus, working for myself allows me to contribute to my family’s income without having to change out of my yoga pants.
I’ve been blogging since 2008 about a variety of topics I’m passionate about. I love sharing and learning from the community that’s developed as a result.
HOW?
At this point in my life, the how usually points to the question of childcare. How do you manage to work when you have a 1 and 5-year old at home all the time? That has changed over the years, but currently my husband has a flexible job that allows us to both take turns being the primary caregiver and working at different points in the week. All I need is my laptop, so though I often work from our home office, I’ve also worked while sitting in the passenger seat of our Honda Accord as we road trip around the country. Flexibility is the how and the why!
